How long did it take you to get to your leadership position at your company? And are you satisfied with what you’re doing?

6 months but I had lots of non-leader leadership experience, plus degree with extra lean six cert. didn’t love it but retrospectively was EXCELLENT experience and a great start to my foundation.

Six years, three jobs and lots of hard work later, I absolutely LOVE what I do now. It took a while to get where I am and LOTS of blood sweat tears and persistence in finding that right fit. Although I had an open mind to each role being that right fit. I didn’t know until a while into this role and then I absolutely knew that this is the right fit for me.

I have observed that people on testing domain or frontend are getting better pay than other new tech domains like blockchain, cyber security, data sci etc(4-11yr exp) .
For less than 4 years experience new tech job gettig good pay but others getting very less.

In dev job Java, spring r etc getting better pay. Also some SAP consultant are also get paid high.
Is exp people in testing/frontend dev are less due to which they getting better pay than others with experience.

Has anyone butted heads with an office manager their age? We have a new one who seems to be trying to control my schedule during Covid (ie she assigns me office days without asking me, if I leave the office early or don’t come in one day due to video calls she emails me and tells me I need to inform her of my whereabouts), when that has never been part of her job duties before. Partners don’t care that I WFH.

Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments. Thanks!
