SAME. It’s pretty life changing. Highly recommend. If you’re still somewhere that micromanages you like that, gtfo!
Not sarcastic really happy for you! That’s awesome.
Me too. I’ve become an inherently happier person and, as a result, more productive ever since.
It’s the best feeling in the world to no longer have daily 8:45am check-ins with mandatory camera on 😭
8:45 should be unenforceable.

We do 2x dailies ~7 mins each. My team really likes them and I've found value in it.
Why the hate?
Yeah no chitchat in my calls. Like CD said; what's on your plate, what do you need help on, done.
It isn’t about the frequency @OP rather how it’s positioned. I’m an agile coach and have seen it all.
At one agency the stand ups were legit micro-managing and chat/therapy sessions. A lot of it is due to PMs/accounts that are new to agile delivery—or are trying to be agile when the client is clearly waterfall.
That said, if you get onto a good scrum team, stand ups will make your life easier. Attend a 10-15 minute meeting daily in lieu of X status meetings. Focus on what you did, what you’re going to do, and any blockers.
