Varies by firm, practice area, and timing. I got thrown to the wolves my first month, billed 200hours but I think that’s unusual. For friends, it’s varied up to 6 months

I did as well! Ugh

Have my closing interview with Accenture next week. So far the Director and MD I have met with have both liked me and the recruiter has said that they have both given me a thumbs up and that the upcoming closing interview with the MD is just a conversation. From my research I’ve also read that it’s just a sanity check to make sure I’m not a nutcase. Of course anything can happen, but I’m expecting an offer. (Cont)

I have been offered 6A band as senior software engineer, so is 22LPA fair compensation?

Thanks in advance.

So… 3.5 year relationship came crashing in Jan due to covid depression, work burn out, lockdown etc. We have stayed in contact and recently he has come around to apologizing and considering getting back together. However he also revealed he started seeing someone casually 4 weeks ago and technically is cheating on her by meeting me for coffee and to discuss this. I’m upset that he’s dating others but shouldn’t be right? I mean, I did the same. Still hurts though. And I told him to sort that out

Hi All,

I joined PwC AC 4 months back and now I have recieved a job offer form the current client I am working in PwC.
Will there be a conflict of interest if I join the client company? If so after how many months of resigning from PwC can I work for the client company?
I checked my offer letter and no where they have mentioned about the conflict of interest policy.

TIA!

I applied for a lateral job in a growing group that doesn’t have associates yet. I talked to a sr. associate in a different office/group to get a better sense of the firm’s vibe and we both really enjoyed our call. He kindly offered to recommend an interview to HR. Is there anything else I can do? I would be switching practices altogether so I want to be as proactive as possible to know what I’m getting myself into (and make my app more favorable because I really want to break into the field).

Investing in big law: I just started working and since student loan interest is frozen, how do we invest that money in the meantime? I mean I’m sure between now and the end of January, I won’t make huge investment gains, but I would like to have my money work for me. I’m maxing out my 401(k) but I want to invest anything over that. The only thing I know about investing is Robinhood lol. Also pre-tax 401(k) or roth 401(k). Joined a big firm (Big4) not long a go and starting to feel like I got a good grip on my current work.

Can any seasoned lawyer share tips and materials (i.e. books) which can help?

I am a mid level and have received an offer from a regional big law firm in a non-market paying location. I believe the firm would be a great fit and the location is where I want to be. The biggest issue is money. I’d be lateraling from full cravath in a major market and the initial offer I received is a bit off that (read: 50% salary reduction). While the market is cheaper in some respects, housing is not. How far can I expect this firm to go to in terms of compensation? Any negotiation tips?
