How long should the new hire process realistically take before it starts feeling inefficient instead of thorough? My company’s process for hiring takes up to 3 months and it feels very inefficient.

In my personal opinion, the process reaches diminishing returns after about the fifth week. At that point, everybody should know what they need to know in order to make a decision. Anything more than that is just overkill.

That’s facts. It shouldn’t take more than a month to know if you got the role.

Depends on the company and department. My company for my current job you’re looking at 6-12 weeks of training before you’re “on your own” but the department I’m going to, I’m looking at 6 months annnnd after training I get a promotion so that’s cool

It shouldn't take three months to hire someone. It seems like people are just afraid to make a decision. So the process continues until so many people have touched it that no one is responsible.

It took Dern near 5 months for me . I thought they changed their mind

Depending on how many interviews are needed, the whole process shouldn’t take longer than a month to five weeks. Otherwise, you may lose strong candidates

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.
