In my personal opinion, the process reaches diminishing returns after about the fifth week. At that point, everybody should know what they need to know in order to make a decision. Anything more than that is just overkill.

Depends on the company and department. My company for my current job you’re looking at 6-12 weeks of training before you’re “on your own” but the department I’m going to, I’m looking at 6 months annnnd after training I get a promotion so that’s cool
It shouldn't take three months to hire someone. It seems like people are just afraid to make a decision. So the process continues until so many people have touched it that no one is responsible.

Depending on how many interviews are needed, the whole process shouldn’t take longer than a month to five weeks. Otherwise, you may lose strong candidates
