While we all care about the environment and action is required, corporate ESG efforts are largely a waste of time to begin with. Ripe with meaningless and incongruent metrics, often at irrelevant scales, and informing very few of anything that will lead to change.
Welcome someone to change my mind.
I think your looping this ruling into the whole of ESG while this ruling only effects one area and one of the 3 aspects of ESG. While this isn’t the best outcome for the environment and those that care about it, it’s not going to go away. ESG investment metrics are very different than tangible metrics like Net Zero carbon footprint, reduction of waste goals, etc.
I used to think ESG and specifically climate action was a waste of time until I started working on projects related to it. ESG will be an integral part of businesses and the need for Sustainability experts will continue to grow. The is especially true if the SEC begins requiring climate based disclosures.
Good. Now ESG consultants will have to go get a real job instead of inflating this fake industry that exists solely to placate hard leftists lmao

Well, all this does is kick it back to Congress to, ya know, actually legislate with purpose instead of foisting off vague laws on agencies and letting them interpret and implement to their heart's content.
My sentiments on ESG echo the other respondents', but if Congress actually does their job, ESG won't go away. Probably a tough patch for a while until Congress figures out how to stop abrogating responsibility, but it'll come back around.

C2, the president makes nominations. The senate needs to approve them. Not sure where you got it that it’s not their job or that they have no input. They are the deciding body.
