Hey folks for UK which Visa is worth to ask for? Skilled Worker or Specialist Worker (formerly known as ICT). Pros and cons please?

PS : I lived in UK on ICT for 3 years and in India since last 2 years.

Question on travel during H1B lottery-

I am hoping to travel in August for something I have been interested for a while. The H1B lottery company however suggested that I don't travel between April and Oct. Can someone walk me through the possible scenario if I get the lottery in round 1 vs round 2?

If I get it in round 1, good chance I will be able to travel in Aug? (Petition out in Mar/Apr, should be done by Aug?)

If I get it in round 2, is it possible to file the petition in mid Aug?

Hello, Need an advice on my offer from Deloitte. I am on OPT and looking for H1B sponsorship this year, recruiter said they will do it but I am wondering if I join after 2 weeks will they be able to do it as there won’t be much time left. My current company will file H1 for me. I got an offer for a consultant role at D with 25$k extra than my current salary and 10$k sign in bonus but I am currently working as a Sr Con. Is it advisable to take a risk in my case considering H1 as a priority?

How much notice period does your firm require and has anyone quit without giving the full notice period?

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.

Corporate ➡️ tech transactions/commercial. Anyone done the transition? Any advice for how to best position yourself to make the jump, either by laterling to a new firm or jumping practice groups within the same firm?

General corporate in NY looking to lateral into tech transactions at one of the EC/VC firms. I’ve heard that I may get a class cut if I make the move but I’m ok with that. My worry is that EC/VC firms are crazy busy work differently from general corp, I also won’t have control over my hours, and potentially worse based on how billing differs (block billing on a few clients vs having to work with 15 or more startups). Very Noob question: First year here that has done DD for a couple of deals representing the seller now. Essentially all I did was note whether certain agreements have change of control provisions, and if so, what the specific language is. I understand what the CoC do, but why am I doing this? Specifically, what does the buyer do with this? It seems like these provisions should trigger but nothing then happens...

I’m a second year associate and last night I was online until 2:30 AM waiting for one specialists comment to a purchase agreement. I had added all comments during the day from everyone else, and the midlevel and senior were online as well, but it seemed very strange to ask me to stay up just to add three sentences to a purchase agreement. How do I quit my firm? I’ve accepted a position with a previous employer (non-legal), and they’d like me to start in 2 weeks. Paralegals have an informal agreement to stay with the firm for 2 years and I’m a few months shy of that, so I’m afraid they will be difficult in paying out my bonus from last year and my unused PTO. I’ve heard some shady things regarding leaving before the 2 year mark. Thanks!
