How should a new agent choose the right FMO for them?

I’m a NEQ at a Midwest small firm and will be relocating to Indianapolis within the next year. I’m currently ID but would like to explore possibly doing plaintiff side work (PI or employment) as part of this career transition. What are the most reputable plaintiff firms, both in terms of culture and reputation in the legal community? Any other opinions/pointers welcome. Thanks!

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?
