Hi! There are plenty of companies that would hire you as an admin without asking for previous experience, specifically as an administrative assistant since it is an entry-level position. Is this case, what I recommend you, is to prepare a good resume with all the experience you might alrwady have with your previous jobs, or things you learned at school. Specifically, add all those skills that are related to the admin role (organization skills, problem solving...). Once you have prepared a good resume, start applying and add notes, if possible (like a quick intro); when sending those applications, follow up with the recruiters, and send thank you notes to them as well.
This. Focus on highlighting the skills you have that they’re looking for. Don’t worry about not having any admin experience. You still have the skills: excel, organization, calendar management, etc
They’re not looking for an admin assistant, they’re looking for someone who can do the job. Show them how your skill set matches what they’re looking for.
Try getting some online certifications. Google has great ones! Project Management... Writing... That will bump up your resume!
Good point!! Also, if you join the LinkedIn 30 days free trial, you could do some of the certifications for free. A good ones o do are the Outlook, and excel certification.
Have some examples where you have made learning successful for you. You might not have the industry experience but everyone can have examples of how they learn and how they were successful.
To have proper hands on training for admins is slim to nill as far as I have seen and companies do not really allow Admins to have tools installed on their computers for efficiency or help. Due to security purposes, should companies changes security firewalls for Admins? Yes, if they want Admins to succeed.
In the meantime I would suggest this site
https://officedynamics.com/ it's a great resource, also the website The Officials. The owner of the company is great, kind and whipsmart.
