I 100% believe in pay transparency. For employers, if you have budgeted and have a certain starting pay expectation? State or post that. I for one believe it's such a waste of time for both parties involved, not too.
I recently applied to two specific jobs recently. I believe i priced myself fairly, DOE. And within range for one of the roles, because I verified this because they posted the pay range on their website. I got rejected by both based on my pay expectations "not aligning" 🤦‍♀️

Certain states have a law that requires companies to be transparent about pay. How much were you asking for? How much did they say they were willing to pay? And whah city? And how much experience do you have? And your level of education?

like

Yea I think you dodged a bullet. I don’t entertain opportunities that pay significantly below what I’m looking for

Did you give a salary range or a set salary? It seems like an annoying game trying to figure out the right price.

like

Maybe next time price yourself above the pay range and see if it aligns lol

How did you even find out that was the reason? I NEVER get to speak to a real person. I usually just get a email saying Thanks, but no thanks'....basically a rejection with a blanket statement.

like

I didn't receive an automatic reply. I eceived an email from a person, stating the reason why they were not selecting me to move fwd. And, I followed up with her.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
