I am a solo designer right now due to layoffs earlier this year. One thing I’ve been struggling with is the buy in process from my user research. In fact, most of my job these days has been making slides and aligning with stakeholders. There is no PM. Anyone who tried to be a PM in the past was removed sooner or later. The CEO prioritises the roadmap. But in one or two instances, I’ve heard the CEO come up with somewhat delusional conclusions from my presented findings. I get the sense that

this occurs because the stakeholders have separate agendas for what features should be built. I don’t have much “product sense” in paper at this point but I figured having research (where needed) is already a good start. I’m pretty confident of my findings despite having to make do with whatever I can get (startup issues), just that if the stakeholders continue to make decisions without a data driven approach, I’m afraid it’s difficult for me to do my job and I worry about whether I’m wasting time.

I know the basics of testing and conducting workshops, but I don't know how to develop those skills further. My company focuses on UI and I haven't been lucky to land a PD job. Hello fellow designers!

I was laid off back in August and I have been trying to get a product/UX/UI job ever since then. With the recession and all of the crazy things that are happening right now it has been even harder.

Is anyone hiring a mid-level Product/UX/UI designer?
I have 3 years of experience as a UX/UI Designer and I am available to start working immediately! (Remote work is preferred since I live in Phoenix, AZ and there are not a lot of tech jobs here)

TIA ♥️

I think I've failed twice in answering these correctly in my interviews
This is for a Visual designer's position
1. What was the breakpoint for design
2. Did you design the components and design system?
3. How was your handoff to developers (I've never one that)
4. Wht was the most challenging part of this project.
5. What is something you would re-design if you were to go back.

Welcome everyone.
Will be posting some great resources soon.

Hi 👋 Any good UX books for senior designer level that helps with strategy, and good frameworks, or anything that will help me with my thought process? I have the basic books like don’t make me think, and 100 things. I’ll be joining a startup soon as chief designer, and will be back to being a full stack designer — I’ve been an IC for the past few years, so I definitely need to improve on strategies and maybe frameworks when it comes to UX. Will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! 🙏🏻

I am product designer with a fair amount of experience (6yrs).

Recently was interviewed for a Sr. role in Booking but unfortunately, the team finds me better suited as a core individual contributor.

I am also in the advanced stages of some lead designer positions in other companies.

However, I am really interested in joining the team at Booking, especially because of the design culture.

What should be my reasons to accept or not accept the offer from booking?
