I'm in the same boat as you. I'm a 27 year employee, making over 31 an hour. But my company has changed dramatically in the last nine months. I dread going to work everyday with the toxic environment, overworked, poor management,and poor communication with management. Three weeks ago, I decided I've had enough. I wasn't happy, depressed all the time, unable to enjoy my life away from work. So I really started looking. Like you, I couldn't find anything over the low to mid 20s for pay.
But I just couldn't take the situation at my workplace anymore. So I applied to several place and yesterday I accepted a position at a different company in a similar position. I'm losing about 7 an hour, plus seniority and extra vacation time. It's scary about the money, but I feel that my physical and mental well-being are worth more.
I'm planning on giving my 2 weeks on Monday, just waiting to hear if there are any last minute hiccups with my new position( they are running last minute checks, but offered the position).
My wife isn't happy in the loss of pay, but I'm hoping she'll come around.
My advice is to keep looking, no need to rush out the door since you've got a steady pay coming in. But if you feel like you're losing your mind, it's probably time to go. Even if you have to lose some pay. You're only going to live once and being stuck someplace awful seems such a waste
I'm OOW almost 8 months. Everything has tons of other applicants. I'm getting interviews (96 denials that I counted so far) Im trying to look into other jobs now instead of IT. Is there a recruiter for your role? I know I dont want to manage others or go into NYC. HiringCafe seems like a different site but I havent found anything to submit to on it just yet. I started looking late yesterday. I also may pay a job search site like careerlander because I'm at a point where I may move and change roles so the services may be worth paying for.
