Citi never sleeps and neither they let their employees sleep.
I had the same experience and similar feelings too until layoffs announced was in April 2024. All looks good until your D day comes. FYI, I’ve worked for Citi for over 7 years, got promoted to AVP and VP within 3 years due to my performance still management didn’t even thought twice before announcing layoff. Felt betrayed and frustrated and still not recovered from the feeling.
I heard a ton of new projects came in Citi. Would you say the layoffs will happen till end of 2025 or for the whole of 2026 as well? Any idea? As a new joiner will I be eligible for hikes and bonuses immediately?

You can be fired tomorrow. There is zero job security. What new projects? There's zero strategy, even current projects can be closed in a day. They hired some consultants for project Bora Bora and now in their name they do random hiring and firing. They've made a mockery out of Citi. Please ask the HR to put a clause that you can't be fired for the next 2 years and then see the reaction.
