I am reflecting on my career and I’ve realized that I really prefer working as a team. There is so much pressure when a brief or opinion only has my name on it. I am a very, very hard worker but the pressure of being the “one” making the decision about the advice to give or the strategy to take without a team to bounce ideas off of is incredibly stressful for me. This is exacerbated because I’m a small firm now. Do you feel this way? Are there practice areas that are more team driven?

Honestly I miss the chit chat with all my friends in a big firm. I am working in a small firm now with a couple of my friends but it’s definitely way more lonely and you really have to trust yourself a lot.

Yes! The pressure that comes from having to trust yourself in a small firm is exhausting.

At a small firm, but the culture is really team driven, I think in large part because we’re in public interest (union-side labor law) and so we feel like we are all in it together, but also I think I just got lucky to work with good people.

Hello Fam Law attys!

I am in my second year as a attorney, I was a FL paralegal before law school and would eventually like to end up there again. I am in a very small rural area, pretty much only solos, and no FL solos appear to be hiring/expanding at this time.

Do you think experience as a DA or PD would be valuable, with my eye toward a future in FL? Both for the skills gained, and/or as a resume piece?

TY!

I join tcs by changing my profile and my previous exp was in 5 yr pre-sales.
I am giving my best in work but still escalations are raised against me by client.
My husband is also in tcs he is moving to onsite in Jan and my travel is also planned mid next year.
I am giving 12hour daily in my job to adjust in new profile. And affecting my health now.
Shall I quit the job and move with my husband with on dependant visa? Or i shall continue to get pressurized and wait for my onsite?
Plz suggest.

Hi There - I work for an organization that has retail locations. I had the team lead call me this morning (a Saturday) because he had to send a new employee home. The employee he sent home had a mental health episode shortly after arriving to work. The team lead had asked him to be on order taking duty to work on the new employee's customer service skills. The employee said he could not interact with people today and when pressed further started to cry and said he (new employee) felt like he wanted to hurt someone else or himself. The team lead had the new employee call someone to come pick him up.

My question is, has anyone else ever had to deal with a similar situation in the pas where an employee admits he could be a danger to himself or others?

Quick one, Is it okay to always ask for time to collect thoughts before answering questions during case interviews or should we shoot from the hip? I stutter naturally so speaking without a bit of time to collect thoughts can be hard.

Is it worth it to go back to school for a better track to a FAANG company? The division I’m currently in seems like there are no good opportunities, and I have the funds available to finish my undergraduate full time (Canada). I applied to Amazon before for a highly senior position and made it to final interview so I think I would have a better chance for a new grad type role.
