Because there are a lot more republicans in Texas than democrats, and republicans will always show up to vote against a democrat. Has nothing to do with whatever mutant the GOP puts on the ticket. All that matters is the R.
Yeah let’s vote for the absolute loser who couldn’t even stand up for his wife. I’m sure he’s gonna be a strong voice for our country.
In a state with a sea of republicans couldn’t they find at least one inspiring/ honest Republican better than Ted Cruz?

He’s knowledgeable and educational. He also fights. I get why people want him in there.
Examples of why he isn’t honest?
ACD1 that's a good point on the Mexico trip and it reminds me that others like Beto were making calls to elderly people and getting them to safe places or getting supplies to them where they were. You also had people like AOC working with other TX lawmakers to get supplies to those in need. So plenty of people found a way to help out and make sure their neighbors got assistance needed without running away to a vacation.
I don’t see a significant difference between the two, honestly.

I don’t follow much about the guy, why do people not like him? I think people center and right should probably answer that one.

Trump as a great confidence man and Cruz lacks confidence. Black and white cases for national appeal
Texans ride hard for people they recognize as their own. Ted’s brand is tainted on a national level but he won statewide office before that.
There’s some interesting state history in this cultural identity that I think plays into it. Learned about it through the biography of LBJ. For sure you’d never find this depth of loyalty in any other cultural region of the country.

M1. Fair point about Bush 43, who isn’t much of a Texan. But even he is more authentic than Cruz (recognizing that that’s a lot like saying the burrito is more authentic Mexican food than crunchy tacos).
TM, I understand and you’re right. I just couldn’t resist making fun of Rafael, Favorite Son of Canada. And, what does that say about Texas voters?
