Do people act like it's strange? I thought that was the norm. I don't spend a lot of time before applying, but if I get an interview then I make 100% sure it's a company I would want to work for.

I don't find that strange at all. It's actually strange not to. I'm a research fanatic, so whether it's a job or a sponge to wash my car with, I'm reading every review out there (especially the negatives).
Makes sense
Honestly, I don’t research companies before applying. I will do my research if I have an interview though. Helps to give insight into what I’m potentially signing up for and good to show the interviewer you took some time to care about the company.

I've never thought it was strange, and I've never had anybody act like it was strange if I talk about it. Research is an important part of the job searching process, or else you are opening yourself up to scams or companies that misrepresent themselves.

I think it's strange not to do this. I research before every major life decision, and deciding whether or not to accept a job offer is definitely a big one. I want as much information as I can get to help me see what working for a prospective company will really be like.
