I failed REG the first time cause I could not get myself to understand or focus. I didn’t get any of it but also kept telling myself I couldn’t do it. Second time around I grinded it out and just barely passed. When I studied for the second time I literally did not even remember looking at that stuff the first time around. It gets better!
REG is hard but not impossible. I did horribly on the MCQs while studying too, but I still passed. I found that using the flashcards helped me. Just keep going and try your best.
I thought REG was so hard because you learn things for partnerships, corps, individuals that are all somewhat similar and have similar descriptions so you think you know it and then get it confused when you see them all mixed together. What helped me was comparing similar concepts for each so I would know how to answer a question for each. I still barely passed but I do think it helped. And not worrying about all the silly credits and phase out numbers. There’s just too much of that for maybe a couple questions.
What i did to pass my retake:
- understand basis inside out for all the categories (s corp, c corp, partnerships, etc).
- remaining topics just hammer mcq until you are scoring around 70-80% consistently
