It's the pay for me. Also, I'm sorry you're feeling that way!
Pro
Totally fair. Recognition is nice, but when it doesn’t come with pay or real support, it can feel pretty hollow. Appreciate the empathy though.
I remember years ago, I was a receptionist at a recording studio. I got a plaque , a new chair and a bonus. All I felt was relief that I didn't get yelled at or loose my job.
Pro
That relief feeling really says a lot. When recognition is tied to fear or survival, it stops feeling like appreciation and just feels like “I made it through.
Pro
When the achievement is just on the piece of paper and does not reward you with something that matters to you, this is what does not excite you anymore. For me, I used to get best employee reward every now and then but never any monetary reward and it stopped giving me any excitement.
Pro
Totally get that. Recognition without something tangible or meaningful behind it starts to feel hollow after a while. It’s like, “thanks… now what?
I don't think your feelings are anything but valid. Yeah the recognition is nice, but what does it really change? You just go back to your job.
Pro
Exactly. It’s nice in the moment, but then it’s back to the same workload and expectations. Hard to feel excited when nothing actually changes after the applause.
It’s time to find another job. It’s like cheating you’ll find your next excuse or excitement somewhere else.
Pro
I get what you’re saying, sometimes it’s not about the job itself..burnout can make even good moments feel flat.
