They’ll take anybody with a pulse - an internal auditor
Yes. Internal audit values external audit experience. Forensics values IA and external experience. They’re all fairly similar and transferable.
I'm having the opposite issue. I'm locked into internal audit and can't get out. Once you jump in, you can never escape.
Choose wisely.
Too niche.
If I lose my job, i literally have no other option. The recruiters I've worked with in the past told me I had two options:
1. Stay in IA in a specific industry due to my niche experience
2. Restart my career (not really an option because it would mean taking a $30k pay drop)
Internal audit, decent exit? Two groups of words that should never be put together
CS1, trust me there’s no shortage of IA jobs. Everytime a company goes public or plan to go public, IA jobs open up.
I don’t think you are too specialized at that level. Also I don’t think you are completely locked into IA. If you have a strong record and are technically capable I’m pretty sure you could move to another area. If IA interests you, then you should go for it! There are so many opportunities out there!
Ugh I’m sorry! That’s unfortunate.... I’d bet that’s just one bad experience. Keep chugging along and you’ll find something great!!
