Are you guys hiring for the two vacant spots. It’s hard to manage expectations of bosses when it comes to amount of work and lack of resource resources
Of course that is what your boss expects. They always somehow expect you to do more with less. That is honestly so unrealistic.
All things considered if you’re a manager it’s your job to arrange a work flow that’ll work for the team but are also expected to take over for now until the vacancies are filled now this work should also be split with the team but that’s just how it goes sometimes it’s typically why managers have to be good at the jobs they supervise
I would additionally suggest getting yourself involved in the hiring process even maybe bringing some people you know in who can do the job to interview so it can be remedied as soon as possible because if you do it for too long they’ll think they don’t need 6 people
You are correct that expecting the same output from 4 people (and yourself doing analyst work) as from 6 is unrealistic. Try shifting the conversation with your boss from a debate about what is possible to a discussion about prioritizing based on current capacity.
Wow, she's asking for burnout. Things happen and you have to do your best but without support?
