I have a 3 yr old and a 4 month old. My maternity leave ends on 10/13… I am freaking out a little because daycare for my 2 kids will be $1,440 a month… how is anybody keeping up with this. I feel like at this point I’m working just to pay health insurance (which doesn’t cover everything) and daycare. Feeling discouraged. I feel like my pay is just not enough anymore to keep up. I’ll end up owing on my credit card each month just to live.

Please share your salary/location/level. I need to negotiate salary and would truly appreciate the help.

How concerned are you about inflation? We have 70% savings rate and 50% of our expenses are housing / utilities of which the largest part is rent which is a fixed contract (no CPI escalation, no automatic increases, paying same rent for 4 years). No car as we are living in a large city. So if I look at the components of CPI and what’s rising I am feeling pretty „good“ about it. The one thing I am „worried“ is asset inflation but obviously that benefits me directly. What am I missing?

Outside counsel has been prepping company witnesses for a trial in August. It is my subject area so I am supervising outside counsel. I did not, however, choose the counsel. He is doing a really awful job. Co counsel is better, but not great either. Higher ups love the firm… I do not want to micromanage, but I have genuine concerns about outside counsel’s ability to try this case. Trials are rare, and I just don’t think these guys have actually tried many cases. Cont. below…

My wife works at a school with kids with behavioral issues. The kids are abusive to the teachers/paras and have hit, kicked, pulled hair, as well as have grabbed the privates of teachers/paras. Nothing is ever done about it by higher up. Recently, the principal got kicked in the leg, and it turns out that the superintendent is “pressing charges” against the kid, but won’t do anything for the teachers/paras. What actions can my wife and the teachers take if the superintendent won't do anything?

Sometimes it feels like customer service is just trying to calm down a large, angry toddler.
