I have a DAP offer from EY and PwC. I was leaning toward EY bc it’s 15% more comp but hear there are leadership and other fundamental morale issues and they don’t treat their partners like partners. What’s the difference between these firms based on experience and reputation that is important to know as a DAP?

You need to be ready for sharp elbows no matter where you go.

You’re crazy if you go to EY

You should not base your decision on compensation. If you are good and collaborative, you will succeed at either firm and money upfront should not matter because you will more than make up for it down the line. You need to ask yourself is what you are doing and bringing to the table a differentiated skillset? EY is a truly an entrepreneurial firm if you do bring something to the table they don’t already have. If not, then yes there will be a lot of internal competition and politics. I don’t know where you are in life, but if you are looking to have more kids, the EY leave policy is great and in my experience, I got yelled at only when people found out I didn’t take my entire leave. Also, is your career plan to stay a Partner until retirement or are you looking to move into industry after a certain period of time? If so, then in my experience PWC has better exit options. I have to assume since you are working with multiple offers in this economy you are smart and only you can make this decision and 100% don’t leave it to the peanut gallery on fishbowl.

How can you compare exit options from one firm to the other?

Highly depends on service line and sector. Morale is horrible at EY right now and lots of sharp elbows because of revenue shortages. It's also unknown how the government business will be impacted. They are letting many P/MDs go

Numbers are not that bad, but I can attest to lots of insecure people having very sharp elbows instead of focusing on growing their accounts, there are opportunities out there, they're just too worried not letting anyone near 'their accounts'

What area of EY? Is he consulting vice chair is great!

funny

Which area?

It depends on which service line/sector.

Where are you coming from? Are you basing your opinion off of Fishbowl posts? PM me if you want my take

Can I ask how you’re connecting into these companies for opportunities? Do you have a relationship there with a current line partner for example, with a referral being the best path? Or have a recruiter you like? Thanks.

Congrats on getting two offers.

A week or so ago, someone shared a stacked bar chart of each MBB/Big 4 firm that highlighted the percentage of consultants that say they work 40, 50, 60 hours etc a week at each firm.
