I have graduated from Douglas College in the Veterinary Office an Animal Care program a year ago. I have been on so many job interviews and mock interviews with professionals who have stated I have interviewed. I notice is they never hire me and yet I still see the post listed weeks after they have said they have hired someone. I believe it’s because of my age most people in this position are in their 20s. I am an older person not looking to retire anytime soon. How do I get past this ageism?

I am also older in this field, this is a second career for me and I can see where you are coming from. I would like to say that I think some companies simply do not remove job posting in a timely manner so try not think too much about the rejection aspect I think that is more being overwhelmed running a hospital and having loose ends? Keep your head high and keep at it Vet Med is evolving and a diverse work force with us older employees can only help it- good luck!!!

Female here and I hate to say it! But whenever I’m pull to a new project I secretly hope I don’t get a female lead. 😞 I had some interesting experiences with women leads, which it does not apply to all women!, but I feel a bit hesitant and I feel is ptsd lol how can I overcome this mentality?! I’m pro women and equally etc etc but I often rather deal with a dude lead Bc we women are so hard on each other. Smh 🤦🏽‍♀️

If you're being told "take your full lunch" (because by law you need to be given a certain amount of lunch depending on how many hours you work) but then you're told, if work's not done you need to stay until it is, and now people don't want to take their full lunches because it means they'll have to stay after work longer, is that coercion a violation of any federal labor laws?
