I joined the company early and worked there for about 3.5 years. During that time, I supported the business through challenging periods, including stepping in to stabilize work when a major subcontractor unexpectedly walked off. I was laid off for business reasons after a project was paused due to client funding issues and a company merger reduced future workload. The layoff was communicated on New Year’s Eve, which felt particularly abrupt.

Question: I have a client who started a restaurant. He leased the land and bought shipping containers where he spent money contracting out to turn them into bars. I’m having a tough time determining how to depreciate this! First thought was leasehold but he’s not making improvements to a structure...he owns the structure! But nonresidential real estate at 27.5 years doesn’t make sense either as it’s not a brick and mortar building. Curious on others thoughts! TIA

So something crazy happened to me last week. I was at the airport, and as usual on call after call. Been working as an Assistant Technician for 3 years (2 years excluding pandemic) pay is £21k now £22 adjusted for inflation. I will be completing my Part 1 in architecture but also have a degree in Technology, should I find a different company after graduation or take roles offering £30-45k as an Architectural Technologist/Technician.
