I just opened my email and have 53 unread messages, all from a reply all thread. None of the replies have anything to do with my position. Why do some people feel the need to hit "Reply All" for everything? Do they think it’s helpful, or just want to be seen?

It’s probably because of one person who included you and then others assumed that you need to be cc in the whole thing. When someone emails me and has people in cc, I’ll reply all as well.

that makes sense, but it makes it hard to prioritize haha

More often than not, I have found something of value down the road, buried in those threads.

love that, i maybe need to be a bit more optimistic haha

Think about the person who started the discussion. Their goal was to make sure all the necessary people were included. I often complain about being brought in too late or being uninformed. Unless most of those responses are requests to be removed, it sounds like a discussion you may want to be aware of.

Thats a good way to think about it! I would love an AI tool that just summarized everything though!

Depends on what the conversation is, but if they are just saying thank you, or sounds good. I find that to be beyond annoying, otherwise I think they just want you to stay in the loop.

Yeah i need to start thinking about what i can learn. i just hate how it overflows my workstream trying to figure out what is important vs not

4th year at a mid size PI firm. Got pulled from litigating MVAs to help this solo we hired start a med Mal/nursing home practice. 1 year in and it looks like I’m two steps backwards in terms of getting paid because we’re a year or more out from a lot of the fees hitting. I respect the solo a lot, he’s a mentor, but I’ve got kids and I gotta get paid. Trying not to burn bridges, but I can’t wait years to get cut in. Advice?

Does really Collaboration work or it's just a myth. Always hearing from Offshore manager is that take more ownership like from offshore we should be working 80% and only 20% will leave for onshore because of time difference..

Is it really a collaboration or simply a cold War between offshore and onshore ownership..

Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments. Thanks!

I have been at my company for 3.5 years. One year ago (2.5 years into my employment with them) they re-leveled everyone and I was bumped to an entry level position on the terms that they changed my job title when they re-leveled, so “technically” I am at the early stages of my new title. Even though the job duties did not really change.
I’m not sure the best way to approach this. Has anyone else had a similar experience or know how I should advocate for myself?

I also do this as feeelance on the side, so where do I draw the line between who I refer to the company I work for or who I personally do freelance for? I don’t want to short out the company I work for but also love freelance and am more than capable of the work.

CTR, contracts and department overhaul

our marketing dept is undergoing a complete overhaul. under old leadership, a $75k 12-mo contract was signed to a marketing group that handles our SEO, blog and everything Google Ads. All things I can and am in training to do. Current CTRs on G ads seem pitiful at no more than 0.75%. My meta ads coast around 4-6%. During this overhaul, would it be wise to not renew our contract, and negotiate for me to take over these roles and leverage a raise?

Facebook Ads after iOS 14 changes.

I'll share my experience and urge you to share yours:

Since iOS 14 changes, Facebook ads isn't the same anymore. Why?

A. >75% iOS users denied tracking. They are no longer tracked across websites/apps. Facebook lost its edge.
B. Targeting and conversion tracking aren't as effective anymore.
C. Many advertisers have been migrating their budgets from Facebook to Apple and Amazon ads.

What's your experience? Let's all learn.

Hi everyone, I have a quick question that’s kind of silly. I work at a pretty small company leading marketing.
