So- we run Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) for our clients display ads in a feed and corresponding google sheet via Google DoubleClick. My q is- does anyone know what systems out there allow for creating a template that will automatically pull a product image from say Target.com and automatically building the ad & copy without manually making 1000 ads via row for row in the google sheet? I know this is possible but curious if Sizmek or Flashtalking are more common in this type of creative development.

That seems shady, I would go right to supervisor about it.
Went through a recent experience similar to yours. I was able to negotiate hard and have them create a new higher level role. Typically the internal p&l owners need to jump through some hoops for new reqs, especially one that's considered at a higher level than needed as justified by the latest revenue run rate or projected product market fit, etc.
I'm saying all of this because it may not necessarily be a judgement on you. Did the hiring team or upper leadership change at this company? If so it's possible that they are now increasing their internal investment into this team.
It is always possible that they just thought you weren't qualified for a higher position (even if you in fact are). Sorry, it's a shitty feeling I'm sure.
Best advice is if you really want the job as is, then just go dive in and prove your worth. You can always pivot after a couple of years.
Otherwise, you can have a direct conversation with hiring team as well to put yourself at ease.
All depends on your objectives and negotiation hand. I wouldn't let your personal feelings get in the way too much and try to make a cold, objective decision based on facts and your goals. It's just business.
It’s important to speak up but approach it in a professional way. If not, you may become bitter in your current role because you didn’t approach the issue when you had the chance.
When it comes to your career and climbing that ladder, you’re your own best advocate.
It’s worth asking what you are missing. Obviously someone doesn’t think you’re qualified. You can get angry or get curious. Guessing you have some blind spots or missing skills.
Apply for the job / Make the case for promotion
I would be careful on how you approach it, if you elect to. As if you come on to strong it could create a red flag that you will feel under valued / under titles and then have a problem with your boss.
Let the relevant seniors know that you want that job and you're fit for it.
Is it an open rec internally? Or are they in the process of opening it up?
It’s open publicly
