I was in a manager milestone meeting and some P from London said - we Indians are used to treat ourselves lower than clients. It’s the way we r raised blah blah blah …… and then an AP from india asked her… when did you leave india and she said 17yrs back! And he said.. that’s why, what you said is rubbish and a joke - just like we find snake charmers in India…. They P was quiet for rest of the presentation.
So it seems the issue is quite common? Is it so? And the team member who I’m having issues with is not an Indian
Usko Akshay Kumar ka dialogue maar do namaste London wala.
Don’t worry! London folks have problems of their own. Meagre salaries, sky rocketing inflation, selling pressure and then US counterparts earn more than double. Hence, the frustration!!
Fyi, I have worked pretty hard and I already earned that EU transfer last year. Decision was on me whether to move or not, but post covid and this war situation, the financial situation is pretty vulnerable in London for a single earning member in a family. I am only commenting after doing proper assessment and without any frustration.
I have been through this with a consultant from the US. Then complained to the AP and it was taken care of.
It’s never the office location. It’s always the people.
I think it's the people. Some people are just condescending. I know some really nice people out of US and a few condescending ones.
But I do feel that we Indians undersell ourselves sometimes. We also lack the discipline at times (for example, I got into trouble once over scheduling. In India people have flexible calendars and don't stick to it by the minute. Someone is US used that to "teach me ZS ways" of arranging calls.)
