I know the economy is not in the best shape and people are loosing their jobs left and right. It’s frustrating when your company is under staffed and wants to pile on more work for you instead of hiring more people. I get burnt out when they do this to me and others. How do you navigate the excessive workload your company may have?

To handle excessive workload, prioritize tasks, set boundaries, and communicate openly with your manager about what’s realistic. If the company or manager is not at all receptive to that, you just do the best you can with what you have.

Thank you for the advice. My problem is that I can be in work mode and over work myself w/o knowing it. I do have to set boundaries and communicate a bit better so I won’t get burnt out so much.

I hear this so often these days. I've learned to set boundaries with my employer and most of the time it has worked for me. Slowly implement more boundaries, and I hope it works for you too!

Does anyone work in an area with lots of exterior environmental noise (traffic, concerts, trains, etc.) and have tips for not becoming overwhelmed and/or distracted by it? I’m finding that environmental noise has increased near my office now that tourism has picked back up in my city, and I’m struggling to block it out. I’ve tried earplugs but the noises tend to vibrate my office building so the earplugs don’t work well as an entire block.

Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. I’ve worked really hard and I’m worried our wonderful news will throw chances with this :(- also if I don’t get promoted pretty sure it’s up or out. Any advice?
