Press like if you’re a fan of obscure varietals
This chart makes no sense. Residual sugar and perceptible sweetness varies within varietals. The left column varies more by style (Old World vs. New World), body, etc., than sweetness. And then having dessert wines on right but not left? What?
This chart is quite wrong
Indeed - thought I was crazy for a second
The whole left column.
Pro
It’s a bit disingenuous to put zin as the sweetest for reds but then white port on the right. It makes the scales capricious.
Riesling
Dryer whites; sweeter reds.
(Or more specifically, anything but syrah or oaky chardonnay for me.)
It’s missing all my favorite reds! Mainly wines made from Nebbiolo and sangiovese grapes. Also, I don’t think Zinfandel is sweet, especially if the white sweet wine is a port!
I haven’t tried much but I like cabs and zins for sure. Blends that are zin heavy. Moscato is alright but I’m more a fan of the reds. I didn’t think zins are that sweet tbh.
Got Costco’s advent wine calendar. Some interesting ones from Hungary, Georgia, Luxembourg, etc…I’m an obscure varietal geek so hell yeah
