I know that feeling. I was in a role until earlier this year where I performed well, but still dreaded going to work. Finding a job you’re good at and actually enjoy is harder than people realize.

Yeah being good at a job doesn’t always mean it’s the right fit, that part’s tough to figure out.
I’m coming to realize I don’t have to love the job, but I also can’t dread and feel completely drained from it either. I was starting to feel physically sick when I was on my way to work. That was the sign it was time for a change. Now I have a job that I might not be exactly passionate about, but I’m ok with it.

That’s a good way to look at it you don’t have to love your job, just not feel drained by it.

Absolutely. Excelling doesn’t always equal fulfillment, and it’s so easy to forget that. I’ve been in roles where the numbers looked great on paper, but I felt completely drained inside. Being good at something doesn’t mean it’s your fit, and realizing that is tough but important. Have you figured out what kind of work actually feels right for you?

So true, numbers can look great on paper but that doesn’t always show how the job actually feels day to day.

Literally right now. I questioned it if I’m supposed to be in this industry all the time, the stress definitely gets to me sometimes. Most of the time I just chalk it up as having to get through a hard time. I still love what I do so I continue to push forward.

Totally get that. when you still love the work it makes the stressful phases feel more like something to push through than quit over.
