I’ve moved into industry, my main reasons for moving were 1) more stability (but I may end up missing the variety of projects soon…we’ll see) 2) better wlb 3) better pay (but I suppose depends on the firm) 4) less politics (although it exists everywhere, I found it was more intense in consulting) 5) feeling like i would always have to pander to the clients too much even when they were wrong/being horrible so I couldn’t truly voice my opinion 6) I always felt like a temporary guest on projects and not truly part of a company as you spend more time with clients rather than your firm
I moved to industry and got bored. Now I'm back to consulting life... Mainly because I missed constantly learning and the variety of projects and tasks. Routine tasks are not for me
Comp (now and future - MBB had a well trodden path to a very high TC), Variety vs. Control over life / WLB, Stability
Pros and Cons, but I've not come across anything that can buy out the Expected Value of the NPV of starting in consulting. Money isn't everything... But I like a nice quality of life, and that costs.
