OP sounds like a cutie
Oh my gosh I transitioned from a die hard tomboy who was embarrassed that I liked fashion and fashion games like Covet Fashion to now incorporating color and pink into my closet. I realized that loving pink doesn’t me lesser or weak! I started to really embrace pink.
It depends on your location! Are you in Texas?
I don’t know if New York has Rainbow, DD’s discounts, and a really good place= Rosss dress for less!
I'd say start with clearing out what you don’t love anymore and sell or donate those pieces... extra cash and closet space! Then, build your new wardrobe slowly by focusing on versatile basics in your new style, and look for deals at thrift stores, online marketplaces, and sales. It’s totally doable to refresh your look on a budget, and you’ll have fun discovering what feels most “you” along the way!
One thing that’s really helped me develop a sense of style as I get older is to follow influencers in my field and with my body type and get an idea for outfits - not just pieces - that I like. I went from just hitting the clearance racks to find random pieces to going into stores/online knowing specifically what I want. Now I have cohesive outfits instead of just clothes.
In terms of refreshing your wardrobe, go through and keep pieces you can turn into outfits - for example, if you have a lot of black tops, I personally love pairing them with a pair of camel-colored high-waisted trousers. Or if you have baggier pants, they might pair well with a bodysuit-type top.
Don’t sleep on Amazon basics - they have a lot of good stuff for really great prices. Quince is a decent option for basics too, albeit a little more pricey. I hate spending a lot of money on clothes, but I live in a place where we have outlet malls so I get a fair amount from there too.
What you do is you contact me and I will guide you through your journey no bs guarantee
Thrift stores.
Mix and match pieces!
Ditto. You can’t do it in a day though. Set realistic goals. I know it’s frustrating. I’ve been there. I only had yoga pants and sports bras after teaching yoga for 4 years and all of a sudden needed professional attire. Shop sale, shop quality, and without haste.
