Bain & Company Hello, I received an offer as a Senior Practice Manager at Bain. The profit sharing range is 0-12% in the offer letter. Is it typical to receive the midpoint (6%)? Also, what do the annual salary increases typically look like? Any insights are much appreciated. Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group McKinsey & Company

Some of the best advice I ever got was to sit down at lunch and keep that time to myself. I almost never do any work, and if I do it's because I need it done, not because someone else needs me to do it.
If we take on a lunch duty, we get early release time at the end of the day, so it can be worth it.
If you want a lunch break, take it. The work will still be there and the world won't end if it gets done a little later.
You must treat yourself to your lunch time of peace and sanity. Turn the lights off in your room if you choose to eat alone. Your body will thank you!! Find your buddies and eat together without an emergency.
I always take mine. I need the break from work just to mentally reset. Plus I get insanely hangry if I do skip lunch, which is bad for everyone involved 😂
For 10+ years, I bring my portable electric lunchbox filled with leftovers, and eat at my desk. I plug it in 30 minutes ahead, close and lock my door, and eat in peace. I will not be denied my me time to recharge! Inexpensive way to keep half your sanity!
I make myself do it at least once per week.
I go to lunch often to spend time and talk a bit with the other teachers. Don’t eat often though, but we do have good food. I don’t feel sharp in the afternoon classes if I eat at lunchtime.
The points you bring up are absolutely an issue that no one talks about in the teaching industry. There often isn't enough time to use the bathroom between classes without losing supervision of students.
I have resigned to not taking a lunch break. On rare occasions I am able to leave for lunch and when the opportunity is there I take it. I often leave a bit earlier than my scheduled time because I never take a break. I ultimately donate a lot more time than I make up by leaving early, but it's nice to know the flexibility is there. Admin may not be ok with it, but my department head is.
Unless there is an emergency around you, please do not miss your lunch and bladder breaks. Packing fingerfood lunch, such as a sandwich, burrito, or like, you can eat in your classroom - except on your duty day if at lunchtime. Usually, adjacent teachers or the SpEd teacher can cover a BR break, if you MUST go during your class sessions. Manage your time better for your wellbeing.
I probably have time to take a real lunch break once or twice a week during the school year. Then, of course after summer school session, I have all my time.
