I think it's natural to feel that way when we've been told our whole lives that loyalty will be rewarded. But it isn't. You should do what's in your best interest to make as much money as you can because loyalty really doesn't mean much in the working world.
Pro
Right? I always remind myself that If something happens to me, my company would take a second to replace me with somebody else why this guilt feeling.
You're not doing anything wrong. Loyalty gets you nowhere. If you get an offer that pays you more and improves your life, you take it and don't feel guilty about it. Even though they've been supportive, if they needed to save money, they wouldn't think twice about laying off you and your coworkers. Appreciating what they've done for you is great, just don't let it keep you from doing what's best for you.
Pro
Exactly. It is in my best interest to just keep moving on.

I get that guilty feeling too. But it’s okay, applying elsewhere doesn’t erase the support your current company has given you.
Pro
Exactly! Choosing my own best is the first thing I should do.

It is normal to feel that way, and that is unfortunate.
An employer treats you decently, as they should, and we are so gaslit that we think that we owe them something special.
Regardless of the situation, we are trading time (a very limited commodity) for money. We deserve to maximise said money.
The decent thing to do is give two weeks' notice, work through your notice, and give your all during those two weeks, without burning any bridges.
Pro
Ops, and I didn't mean to suggest that you didn't give your all or won't do the right thing. What I meant is, that is all that you owe them for being decent to you.

I’m in the same boat but I’ve been with my company for almost 10 years. They have token care of me but I want a new career path. I do feel bad for leaving but I need to elevate my life and not be stagnant. I think everyone should go where they want to go and not feel a type of way.
Pro
Yeah well said. We need to elevate our life and keep up with inflation too. We have given our best already and that what kept us with the same company for so long and I guess it is time to move on now.
