I recently read an article, and the author seemed confused about overemployment and how long it has been happening.

The article seems to suggest the OE is a problem and something should be done about it. I'm not sure why this article appears to be judging people for their life choices or reason for OE.

How would you respond to this person?

Have you ever shut down a project after verbally agreeing to do it, but before they sign the contract? I’m really torn, the project manager has been a nightmare and we’re on day two.

My current role is hybrid with at least two days a week in office. However, with the potential economic downturn, I'm considering holding on to the role to supplement my income.

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

The first rule of overemployment is dont talk about overemployment to anyone outside your house. :). Second: always protect the main job. Third: As the main job always has the priority, the Second and third jobs must preferably be contract gigs with not too many meetings everyday. Remember: another day, another dollar.
