I spent 45 minutes crying in a bathroom stall because a Partner told me my formatting was inconsistent on a 200-page workpaper. I haven't seen my dog in daylight for three weeks and I’m losing my mind. Is the standard Senior-to-Industry jump actually a relief, or am I just going to be trading one type of misery for another? What was the exact moment you knew you were officially done with Public?

Honestly, depends on the company. There are some great industry companies and some crap ones too. It is all about the people and team. I boomerang 3 times in and out of public accounting before leaving for good. You can leave whenever you want and go back whenever you want since they will always need bodies. The culture and environment of public is 180 degrees different and there is an adjustment and transition curve that you will have to push through without quitting to go back to pay because that is comfortable and you know how to thrive there. Growth is uncomfortable, you got this!

Hello Everyone. I have been promised an on-site opportunity to Europe in Feb 2022. My visa was also set to be processed but then the company stopped with this and started stating that it is pending for approval from client. It’s been more than 6 months now. Can I anybody help me? Is it realistic to wait for this opportunity or should be changing my company as I am currently in this company only for the sake of on-site which was promised to me

Hi all, looking for advice.

I'm a technical writer with background in the hardware and healthcare industry. What would be a better option for me, pivoting into software tech writing or project management.

Which one pays better/is better (any advice appreciated, must be fully remote role)

If software tech writing, does anyone have advice on how to break into a role or learn what it takes to become one?

For PM, I got a cert (not PMP) and am trying to decide which of these two I go with.

Question on UK visa-
My partner will be traveling often to London, once a month for an year starting September. He is getting his visa through work (10 years, multiple entry, 6 months max stay, cost some $1000).

I have applied for standard tourist visa in the past and they are usually short term. It could be max 6 months, but they see your itinerary and allocate you few months around the itinerary

Is there a way to get 6 months multiple entry visa, if I were to join him once in a while.

Should you discuss salary range with an internal company recruiter prior to setting up an interview? With external recruiters it’s pretty easy to talk about the expected range. There is an opportunity that I’m currently interviewing for that is very interesting to me. I’m interviewing two other places but I’m not responding to LinkedIn emails for other positions. The other positions don’t interest me as much. On one hand I don’t want to waste time prepping for all positions and rather put that time only for the ones that I have going on, on the other hand I feel like what is that falls through. UPDATE (RE: SoCal Assistant Controller Interview)

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

Not sure if Im hired or not, but are there any questions about the job, comp (cont.)
