I’ve found that the best results come from having a detailed kickoff meeting with recruiters, sharing real examples of ideal candidates, and giving feedback early in the process if the profiles aren’t matching. Sometimes it takes a few rounds to get aligned, but close, ongoing communication usually helps both sides
Story of my life! If you haven’t already, try sitting in on a recruiter’s screening call or reviewing their process together.. it can reveal where things are getting lost in translation.
Same issue here. I’ve had the recruiter speak to the hiring manager and had them come on site to see the facility and see firsthand what the job entails. I’ve also gone so far as to forward them redacted resumes of people we’ve hired for the same position.
Can you elaborate on why the candidates are “disgraceful”?
- Not meeting all requirements?
- Not meeting ANY requirements?
- Lacking specific qualities?
- Not located where you need them?
- Too little experience/too much?
In addition:
- Is it possible that the role underpays for the skill level you’d like?
- Do you feel like the recruiter has a good understanding of what is non-negotiable vs nice-to-have?
- Does your recruiter have industry experience or experience hiring for your specific function
- Have you seen the job posting that your applicants are replying to & is it accurate?
If push comes to shove, you can always create your own, fake “perfect candidate”, apply to the posting, and see if your recruiter feels the same way 😉
