I would take responsibility immediately. Delaying might worsen the impact.
I know it's easier said than done but just bring it to the attention of the appropriate person (manager, team lead) in a calm, professional manner and hope for the best. Like you said, I wouldn't worry about losing your job to this, esp since you've been great with your job otherwise. Good luck and let these moments make you a stronger, more honest person in your workplace!
Over the years, I realized EVERYONE made mistakes and most of us still survive. Don’t panic and just deal with it professionally (discuss and correct). If you can think about any controls/checks you can add in to prevent this in the future, I think managers will appreciate it.
If you can correct the error yourself, you don't need to inform anyone that you made an error. If someone asks you why it took you longer to complete the task, just say, "I did this first time incorrectly, so I fixed it." If you realize that you made a mistake and you can't or don't know how to fix it, then reach out to the next reporting level above you for help.
Everyone makes errors. If you sent out the report already, or you think that someone might be using the incorrect data, communicate as quickly as you can. Simple: I was re-reviewing the data and realized I made a mistake. I have already corrected it (or if you no longer can, say this is how it needs to be corrected)… and move on. Very few errors are really impactful. Everything else is inconsequential. So give yourself a break, but show management that you care and how you can make sure this doesn’t happen in the future.
