Can anyone share their experience with an ESOP?
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

You should never be working for free. That is illegal depending on the country. I would definitely speak with an employment attorney if I were you.
You should not be working for free. It’s illegal. If you did not get paid for 2 years something is wrong with the company. You will probably need to take legal action to try to get payment. But before you do that you should make sure you leave this job, have another job that pays you and if you take legal action your new job will not get impacted. Every country has its own laws so you should make sure you are aware of those.
