I was asked to role-play a cold call in an interview and completely forgot the product name halfway through. I laughed it off, but inside I was spiralling. Has anyone else had this before? I tanked that interview 😅

Oh wow, I've never done that, but I could totally see it happening. I once almost called a product by the wrong name, somehow my brain slipped and I thought of something from a previous job. I caught it just before it slipped out and I totally confused someone. It's possible you won't get dinged for forgetting it, since it was a role play, but I could see how that could cause someone to spiral.

I appreciate this so much. I replayed it in my head and convinced myself it was fatal, but hearing you say it happens makes me feel human again. Role plays really do short-circuit the brain in weird ways.

I hate those role play scenarios. They feel so forced and useless. I'm annoyed on your behalf if the interviewer actually penalized you for that. Like....that's not something that would ever happen if you were really working for the company.

I completely agree. I hate role plays too. They feel artificial and nothing like real work, so nerves take over. I honestly think forgetting a product name there says nothing about actual ability.
