No password. That’s not your problem. If you bought it (the cover) you don’t need to give it to them. Put everything in a box together and you should ask them not us what the protocol and process is. Don’t over complicate it. You don’t owe them anything. Ask respectfully to whom and where to return their equipment and either take a photo or get a receipt

I didnt buy the cover with my money--it was witH THEIR money--so even if its halfway cracked, I still need to give it to them.
I’d take a photo or video of the condition of the equipment.
Most companies don't care about logistics as long as you return it. Laptops don't have a long shelf life, and most companies budget to have them regularly replaced anyway. My company tosses a lot of the equipment we get back because it's not in good enough condition to issue to someone else.

@Director-they ARE jerks. I received NO verbal warning before getting laid off so im off to staples to print this document out (list of returned items) so i can cover myelf.
Also, I tried calling the law office to arrange a time for me to drop off my items and no one answered the phone. I want to make sure someone is there before i drive all the way over there.
I would ask them for a list of equipment they need returned other than your laptop. If they don't list it, don't return it. It's their responsibility to keep inventory of what you have. Likely, most of it was expensed as you got it and very little is an asset on their books, so they probably only care about big ticket items.

Those jerks werent gonna do that. I created an Inventory list of the property items I returned and had the lady who took everything to sign and date it. I sent an email with pictures of everything as well. She looked super confused when I asked her if they could give me a receipt. Whatever. Glad its over with!
