While I agree their gig ended because of a lavish day rate, hasn’t anyone wondered why so many of us over 40 are freelancers? I am a freelancer, but not by choice. I was forced into it because I was laid off.
That is untrue. I guarantee it. Stop saying dumb shit like this- it minimizes actual ageism.
They were let go because with experience and success comes bigger salaries. Ageism is a real problem as us older folks make all the money. My freelance friends are mostly over 40 and killing it in the freelance world. We make every job look easy and fun. That’s why we get hired over younger peeps.
This feels odd. You said they were freelance. They probably were not let go for age. That said, sorry your friends lost their jobs. It sounds like you got a gift in that you saw how much better the talent can be if you look. Maybe you should look?
You sure they weren’t just let go because their freelance project ended, or the agency realized that hemorrhaging money for two incredibly expensive freelancers was not a financially sound decision? And I say this as an older freelancer
Exactly, I don’t care how fresh you are, at $2500 a day you’re out the door the second I don’t need you. It’s business.
For all of you that think this is “odd”, just listen CD3 for a second.
They supposed to be hired as full time. They wanted. But they were “expensive”.
