I’ve tried melatonin and gummies/smoking for sleep, but nothing hits as good as magnesium.
Cannabis (specifically THC) can help with falling asleep (sedation) but it negatively impacts your sleep quality which is an unfortunate trade-off.
Using Cannabis that is mostly or entirely CBD and/or CBN will get you the sedative benefits of Cannabis without the proven negative impacts on sleep quality.
Hello! I haven't tried it personally. I take melatonin supplements to help me sleep instead.
Be careful with Melatonin dosage. Optimal dosage is far lower than many brands typically sell. One of the best researched dosages is 300mcg (0.3mg). And don't take it too close to bedtime or it will actually mess up your sleep schedule more.
No. here’s my recommendation. Set an exact medication schedule.
I take my XR medication (adderal) 30-45min before I start my workday. I start at 7am. So I take it at 6:15. I sometimes feel like I didn’t take it at all and it sometimes it just stops working midday around or after lunch. For that reason my Dr gave me a instant release tablet Rx version for these instances only, as needed. If I have a day where I notice the XR dose isn’t working, I’ll take the instant release one no later than 1pm. That’s my cutoff. If I notice it after that, I either decide to suck it up until the end of my day (3:30). Or if it’s absolutely dire, I split it in half.
I try not to split it in half because those are the days I notice it messing with my ability to fall asleep later on. Melatonin just makes it more difficult to get up in the morning. Weed just makes me a slacker and eat all the time. And with ADHD I don’t need help with eating problems.
Yes
Yes but I would not recommend. You don’t want to be on that see-saw of uppers/downers. Weed is better than benzos but not harmless. If the meds are impacting your sleep I think you should reconsider the meds. Easier said than done I know 🤷🏻♀️
I have never thought to try it but since marijuana for rec use is about to become legal on January first, I might have to give it a try.
Helps me fall asleep and sleep solid in the beginning of the night, but I usually wake up with extreme dry mouth halfway through the night (I use gummies, so not a smoke/vape thing).
I don’t know the brand, but I get microdose (2.5!) gummies from a dispensary in a legal state. I’m a bit of a lightweight, but they chill me out and I fall asleep a little easier.
I've also heard that magnesium is a good substitute for melatonin. My friends also use medical marijuana and found that they have a better time sleeping than my other friends. Good for them honestly, I sleep easily so it's not a problem for me
I have no issues sleeping, maybe you need to change stimulants? I take the instant release kind and have to take it like every 3 hours. Or I take the extended release in the AM plus one instant release dose once in the afternoon. But I metabolize it fast. Marijuana can exacerbate issues with attention and binge eating that are both obviously symptoms of ADHD (and the attention issues can still effect you the next day). Doctors don’t usually ever agree to start you on stimulants if you use marijuana because it can make you have ADHD symptoms.
On the rare occasions I’ve had issues with sleeping Benadryl AKA Zzzquil is great but not good for daily use. Also be careful with melatonin if you’re on an antidepressant or birth control.
Yes it does! I do it everyone in a while and it calms me and my thoughts down enough to drift into a deep sleep..
I must be living under a rock as I never thought medical marijuana would be beneficial to adhd. I would love to read more about this. If someone could share their experiences, that would be great!
I have been a patient for 3 years and vape daily for chronic pain. It’s given me my life back.
Initially it was very very helpful with my ADHD and there are strains that help me focus (jack herer, durban poison, sojay haze).
However it can raise your blood pressure just like adderall so I have a blood pressure monitor. Also the MJ has destroyed my short term memory.
Yes. Gummies with CBD and THC and/or vape pen with high ratio of CBD to THC.
