I won’t do it because I need to unwind as much as I can and not stress out about the coming year.
I need me time!! 🥰❤️
You’re my people 😊😊😊
Definitely! I like to do a lot of my prep for the year in my classroom where I can focus and get in the spirit of the school year. I always like to get things prepped and ready as soon as possible so I can do it at my own pace and not feel panicked at the end of the summer
I agree. With having to write a lot of new lesson plans because of a syllabi update, I don't want to procrastinate, and the freak out right before school starts.
All the time! My room has been waxed, I moved back in, and everything is set up and ready to go. It’s much less stressful for me to know that I’m ready to start planning for opening days.
I do the same. As soon as they are through waxing our halls, I start working. Thankfully, all my bulletin boards survived last year, so I'm gonna tweak them just a bit, then work on lessons.
Nope. We get a whole week when we go back to get stuff ready for the first day

They take our keys and our badges away from us, we aren’t allowed in the building until the week before we start. Our badges are what let us in the building, and even if you keep it, it is turned off so you can’t get in.
Nope I show up the first day we are to report.
I’ve always wanted to be the teacher who can do this, but I’ve accepted over the years that it’s just not in my nature to start on the first contract day. Trust me when I say I have tried, but I literally end up feeling more anxious just thinking about it and not doing it. Weird, I know! 😔
I do sometimes. No distractions because I like to talk.
I plan to go in as soon as the floors are done and they let us into the building! I moved to a new room and I need to get in there to set it up and put my stuff away.
Yes I like to do this from time to time. Honestly I like being there when it is quiet and there is no body around to bother me.I am so productive when all I can hear around me is silence LOL.
I need all of June to really decompress!!
Mid-July is typically when I start to get back into school mode. I do what I can at home and evaluate my BTS checklist. When I get on campus it’s nice and quiet with no distractions to get my room together one day and make all my first grading period copies done before the rush and copier line forms!
Towards the end of July, I am taking a trip so I’ll be ready to hit the ground running come August.
Enjoy your trip. Our family trip is in 11 days, and then I'll be soaking up some rays in Alabama. After that I'll be in school mode
Rising Star
I do go in to work, there are so many things to scan, file from last year and prep for next year, so I like to go in to work in quiet.
Always! Every single summer for the past 32 years. I agree with going in when it’s nice and quiet. Very peaceful.
I agree with the peacefulness. I am in the front hallway and used to jump and squeal like an idiot every time someone would pop into my room and say hi! Now, the front door makes this loud, annoying squeak-no more having people sneak up on me to scare me.
We aren't allowed per custodial contract. We can't even go in on weekends 🫤
I have never heard of this. Is it that way in every school district?
