Here’s what you need to do:
-start connecting with people at companies you’re interested in on LinkedIn. Choose a few people in a role you’re interested in to ask for a coffee chat with. Send personalized connection request notes. Start building connections at companies so when you see a role you want to apply to, you can ask for a referral or help identifying the recruiter.
2) Connect with recruiters and hiring managers at companies of interest.
3) When you see a role you apply to, you need to try as best as possible to email the recruiter and/or hiring manager with a good follow up message flagging your application and saying why you are qualified. I find sending an email (use online tools like Apollo.io to find them) works best. You can also LinkedIn DM tho. Not everyone will reply to either, but you will get some,
The best thing you can do is not apply cold. Follow up, try to get an email or a message seen by the aligned recruiter and someone on the team hiring, and ideally the hiring manager. Do things other people aren’t doing after applying.
Do things other people aren’t doing? Let me tell you most people are doing all this and more… they reach out on LinkedIn and follow up, I would say the ONE that is still working these days is networking and getting referrals. That’s how I got my last gig, applying cold got me a few interviews but unfortunately no offer. It’s brutal out there!

I completely understand where you’re coming from, navigating the job search after so many years in one place can feel overwhelming. Your experience and dedication as a federal government analyst are incredibly valuable, and you absolutely deserve a solid next chapter 💼👏.
When I faced similar challenges, Alfred helped me refine my job search strategy and connect with real opportunities, and he even helped my brother secure a great role too. You can reach him at alfredpetersonhiringteam.gmail.com. He’s patient, professional, and genuinely committed to helping experienced professionals get noticed again 🙌✨.
Thanks for your response. How much does he charge?
You don’t need a sponsor. If you mean referral, then that helps, but they aren’t doing anything other than providing a referral and aren’t helping to navigate the hiring process. The job market is trash right now though.
I put in about 310 applications and nothing. I feel ppl are getting put on by ppl they know or ppl are teammates and strategizing together. I don’t have any professional connections or any friends so therefore I’m in this battle all alone.

Honestly, I’m not exactly sure how much he’s currently charging, when I was in a similar situation, he was really understanding and based his rate on what each person could afford. You can explain your situation to him, he’s very reasonable and genuinely wants to help people get back on track
I'm working with him right now (Alfred) a price hasn't came up. However if he actually got me a job, that would be worth a lot to me, so I'd pay him what I could.
I've also put in somewhere around 250 applications (those have almost all been directly to that companies site, not through LinkedIn or indeed)
Have your Resume reformatted using an AI program. I use AI RESUME BUILDER, and have it targeted for the specific job I am going after. Same with your cover letter, which that program will also do. Most companies now use an AI program, if your resume does not have key words, the program automatically rejects it. SO few companies have an actual person looking at all the resumes they receive, only the ones that get past the BOT programs. Good luck if you are over 50 it only keeps getting harder to find a job and they say ageism does not happen!! I can tell you at 63 it DOES been looking for 4 months now.
