Your mental health should be your priority
You left bc they assigned you too much work
Your brain is program right now that the old place is " a headache"
It doesn't matter how much they would pay you you would always regressed to " mental problems" phase at the old job
As you can see based on yourself you no longer can go at the full speed as you did before( In my mind I'm comparing you to a new ship and and a ship that has been used to its max for a while)
You need to work for a smaller firm with less workload that you could relax more as you are still healing from what they did to you at your old place of work
This damage will take about 5 years to heal if ever
My recommendation based on what you wrote would be : stay where you are, show them what you know, restruct your bills to have less expensive life style and start a journey of mental recovery for yourself
Take care of this body and mind that God gave you, that's the only thing that is truly yours ,don't allow anybody to take advantage of you anymore
Yes, but unless you care about burning bridges at your current firm who cares? Take the money and run it that’s what’s best for you/your family.
Its inconvenient to the new employer but at the end of the day you really have to consider is this a great move for you and can you handle the pressure since you had issues before. The money is always great but will your health be great also. Only you can weigh the pros and cons. But do what is best for you.
Where your mental health issues tied to the firm at all? Why kind of staff would you be that would be making double what you did as a paralegal?
I agree, but most places seem to not be wiling to pay what I’m worth either 🤣 I wonder if it’s due to my age since its always brought up.
I respect your decision and your pause. For some reason, I’ve seen this from several colleagues. I’m not sure why certain Michigan law firms do not treat their employees nor care about mental health (which affects physical health). On top of that, it’s very expensive to live in these areas. The starting wage for any professional living in the area should be higher at the start to offset the high cost of living. PTO and vacation time is also essential, even for first year employees, especially because the area has so much to offer and only a few months of decent weather. I’m not saying you shouldn't consider their offer; I just offering my own perspective from seeing this happen quite a bit. I hope you get some clarity!
