If the strategy role is at a consultancy, it will be hard to be considered at senior levels. You could always independently consult on strategy. Depends on what type of strategy though
Tbh I only reach out to people with tech strategy backgrounds when working on tech strategy roles. It’s a hard sell to hiring managers when I’m telling them they have applicable skills but can’t give any examples of how they have consulted clients on xyz. At the end of the day your team needs to deploy you to a client who hired them to do this work. Hard sell to a client when the person deployed has never do t that work either… get some consulting experience but depending on your career stage, you may have a hard time finding senior roles externally. Perhaps your company has a similar role you can move into. That would be the easiest way imo
I'm talking about tech strategy, or "industry" strategy. I'm working in busines Ops at the moment in a IC role
