I always have my notes and talking points open on my screen. This works better for me than having them physically sitting on my desk since I don't have to noticeably shift my gaze to reference them.
I've had a couple of on-camera interviews where I had notes in front of me, but I just never referred to them. Somehow I felt better having them there. But I found it more natural to just speak and not be concerned with having to refer to anything.
There’s nothing wrong with having some notes. I don’t even mind people have notes in person. A lot of people will have AI helping them cheat during a video interview anyway. So go ahead have your notes ready.
