If you started a job remotely, did you keep the shipping boxes your company equipment came in? The laptop box is small, but the monitor box is enormous. Do most companies send you new boxes to return equipment when you leave?

I drop them in the recycle bin the next day. I don't have room to store original packaging, and don't need it once I determine the equipment works. If they want it back they either can send a box to me or get it back in a beaten up Amazon one.

Exactly.

I throw em away. They’re just clutter. This is the kind of thing where you need to live in the moment- you are here now and I assume not planning on leaving anytime soon, as you just started. Throw it out and deal with it if/when you decide to leave.

I left two jobs remotely (one pre-pandemic). In both instances, my former company sent me boxes and shipping labels so that I could return the equipment. I would throw your boxes away.

Same!

I kept none of it when I got a new job. When I mailed my stuff when I quit they paid for UPS to package and ship it. However I didn't have any boxes to begin with since I started in the office.

Chuck them. Either you’ll get boxes or they’ll reimburse you for the packaging you’ll have to pay for yourself. No one’s going to make you pay for things they have a vested interest in getting back.

My last job sent boxes for both the monitor and laptop.

My old shop sent me boxes but I ended up offering to just buy the two monitors for $50 each. They were a couple years old so there was not much point in shipping them and that way I didn't have to recreate my set up.

I received new equipment a few months ago and recently recycled.

I was only sent laptops from clients so I kept those boxes. You can always undo the box and slide it behind a sofa. Source: just moved and expert with boxes☺️.

It depends on the company…

Of course it depends, I’m just wondering if most people throw these boxes away.

When I left, I drove the equipment into the nearest office and ✌🏽

Funny that you just started but are already eyeing your exit. But seriously, dispose of the boxes and they’ll send you a new box, or a label you can take to FedEx/UPS

I find myself questioning basic politeness I’ve learned since a child. Wondering what everyone else thinks. I work with an associate. She’s great. When she does good work or something I’ve asked her to do, I, of course, say “thank you!” I don’t really expect a response. She always replies “you’re welcome!” Or some variation. And for some reason, that’s awkward. Is it just me? I know in normal manners, that is the right response. Why does it sit funny?

CCTC including all benefits is 16.57 with 8.3 YOE, primarily focused on Manual Testing.
Is it worth looking for another opportunity?
