I would start looking for a new job. Sounds to me like your boss does not care about you or your mental health. You deserve to be treated better than that.
As someone who just left their last job because of this. Start looking for a new job. I feel so much better overall since leaving. It was scary but the right choice 100%
That would be exasperating and I'm not sure what I'd do. I've been hearing that a lot of places just don't want to hire anyone, so that may not be such an uncommon situation. It's like understaffing has become a weird trend in this economy. At some point it has to become untenable and people who are overworked will move on.
In this case, prioritize your well-being first and look for employment too.
Unfortunately it seems to be a norm from what I am hearing, companies are working managers crazy especially if they are on salary. If you say you don't want to work it then they just tell you that it's a requirement of your position. If they don't hire anyone after the first of the year then start looking for something else.

As someone currently dealing with this, working 6 10 hour days a week for the same reason, look for a new job. You deserve so much better.
Some might, youre not wrong. However, trying to get a different position is the best option, given the obvious mental stress youre under, as well as the stress its going to put on your family.

Wow I've learnt businesses really do suck by reading these comments... If they're not hiring I'd be leaving!
