Well, first of all, don’t quit until you have something else lined up. All you can do right now is stick it while you look for a new job. I’m not going lie, it might take awhile to find something.

All jobs suck. That is part of what I am looking at in leaving my current role. I don't want to leave and go to something that is the same thing just a different name on the paycheck.
Honestly don’t worry about how long you’ve been at places in the welding trade. Many places hire welders for only a couple months, sometimes weeks depending on the contract or project they have. Most places in industry will see that your jumping around makes you versatile due to the fact you learned something new and different at every job site. Been doing this for 30 yrs and left jobs for the reasons you stated above before and new doors open fast once your experienced in the trades. With all the lay-offs and call backs in industry, especially in oil/gas, I wouldn’t worry about that at all, most employers will most likely see these as lay-offs and you where hired so they could complete thier contract or project.
I'm quite a bit older than you and life has taught me that it's better to switch jobs than to stay somewhere you're miserable. If you have good skills, they will hire you regardless. But being treated like crap is never worth it.
Can you weld pipe? I’ve never met a pipe welder that can’t find work. Also, if the repo man ever finds you, tell him to skip rocks. There’s nothing they can do about it. JS
Let me get out the world's smallest violin to play for you as well as a bottle and pacifier. Have you ever thought that it is not the bosses but you that is the problem? My advice to you is to go experience months / years of unemployment, homelessness, starvation, etc. and then see how much you will appreciate working in any environment. With the four jobs you have made it INCREDIBLE harder on yourself for the future and do look 100% like a job hopper.
I’m in love with your clean reply! As a welder (I’m not one, I have a couple of friends that are), ‘job hopping’ doesn’t exist unless he’s at a new job every 2-4 weeks. He HELD his positions for as long as need be. Like a comment above said, Welding isn’t a long term, one project job, so the hopping actually helps, but you wouldn’t know much as a customer service representative. Wondering how you have that job and this is your attitude to a 19 year old wanting to make sure he doesn’t dread his workspace.
Four different jobs in the same field and you’re also unhappy with this one. So to me this seems like there’s a mismatch in your expectations and reality. That doesn’t mean you have a bad attitude, but maybe you have assumptions about how work looks that not living up to what you’re experiencing so I would definitely look for the pattern all of your valid reasons and consider it’s not the job itself, but the industry in general that doesn’t suit you.
You’re young, if you like to be in a physical labor job, there are so many different types of jobs you could do that might align better with your personality as well as your aptitude. Don’t pigeonhole yourself into just one area if you is not working for you. Ask your coworkers what this would look like in 5 years and is it worth the trouble now for something that might pan out?
Bro don’t get discouraged.
As a young man, if you don’t have any kids you can weld on the road and make 2k a week easily! Your instructors did not lie to you. Of course there are assholes in this feild. It’s male dominated and people have egos. Don’t let nobody dictate how you make your money. You got in the trade to flourish. Figure out ways to flourish in stead of feel less than.
It’s time to start your own welding company if possible! Do your homework on owning your own business.
Go to your local welder/pipe fitter Union. More than likely they will have you take tests. You’re young enough that they will work with you. Don’t take no for an answer. Things will work out.
To be honest, your HR will support you. Go to them. Your boss might just have an issue that you aren’t aware of. Best luck
HR is there to protect the company, not help its employees.
Keep pushing on that welding, my brother been at it for over 10 years he has been in some big paying positions you can go places keep at it ..
I left my job because the culture was extremely toxic, I moved crossed country for my husband’s job and my job was open so I took it. I felt the freedom of regaining my peace but that was in September and I have not been able to find employment yet. Look while you are employed. Most companies have ways of reporting misconduct. Please do not be afraid to report your manager if he is not treating you with respect. I was a plant manager and the division I moved to had a very different way of doing business. I do not have to go in details about it but I was the one not being respected as a female leader. Everyone deserves respect and you shouldn’t feel drained about going to work. Stand for yourself, that is part of growing. Best of luck!!!
no one is going to care this early in your career how many times you've switched jobs, and no one is hiring 19 year olds expecting them to have 5+ years of experience in their given profession.
Right now its more important to find a job that you DO actually enjoy and you DO plan to stay at for some amount of time.. and using THAT job to build experience and use on your resume.
Also, there is nothing wrong with not listing every job you've ever had on your resume, like for example those jobs you had for just 3 months....I wouldn't even mention them on my resume unless you were sure it was going to help you land the job.
In general, I avoid listing any job on my resume that I was at for less than one year.
If you want to apply for more welding jobs, I would probably just mention the ones you were at for 8 months and not the two others.
But you should also be realistic. It sounds like you've had 4 welding jobs already, and you haven't been happy at any of them. How much do you really expect things will change at the next welding job? My uncle is a welder and its a great profession with a lot of opportunities, but it's certainly not for everyone. You need to ask yourself if welding is what you really want to do, and if it is, I would probably recommend staying put and toughing it out at this point, so you can continue getting better with experience, which will open better opportunities for yourself down the road.
If you don't think welding is what you want to do, then now is the time to be trying other things. The last thing you want to is spend the next 10-20 years hating what you do, when there are so many other career options out there
You have a lot of opportunity.
You’re young. You will go through that. Just have to stay true to yourself. Stay focused on your goals as an employee. Get your experience! You can apply to my job if you live in the St. Louis area. Reach out to me on here or Facebook. Image is a kid in a red shirt. Shoot me a message I can share work info with you. Could potentially be the best welding job you get. It’s been that way for me. Last but not least. It’s always going to be something anywhere you go, the question is, is it tolerable? Just food for thought served with an opportunity. Good luck!
Lucky for you they wouldn’t let me post what I posted.
But you….
You need a friend or a hug or maybe even both.
Smh
Your only, only 19. Get some additional education in the welding. Maybe the company you are at can enroll you in any training programs they offer. Once you get your training maybe that is all you need to find the right job.

Good advice although they seem to me the type of person who will continue to jump from job to job whenever something does not go their way which in life things rarely do but we have to deal with them and get over them.
If you are only 19, you can leave some jobs off your resume. You are not yet expected to have a long unbroken track record of employment. You could say you took some time off from work to figure out your career direction.
Mandatory? What will they do if you don’t work that many hours? Fire you?
Pretty much sadly
Good luck lil buddy u gonna get fed when u go on turnaround and get laid off and it just a repeating thing over and over
